DESCRIPTION: WW - Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph, transitional, ref 145.022-69, manual wind, 42mm x 48mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back case, "DON" (Dot Over Ninety) black tachymetre bezel, brown leather strap, original black step dial, painted Omega logo and lume painted indices, three inset subregisters for minute recording, hour recording and subsidiary seconds, 17J, cal 861, s#28427167, triple signed. The Omega Speedmaster was chosen by NASA in 1965 after outperforming numerous other contenders in rigorous testing. They were first issued during the Gemini program using the older straight lug style 105.002. More Speedmasters were purchased starting with the Apollo program, astronauts being issued the "Professional" marked 105.012's in a beefier case with crown and pusher protectors as seen here. They remain flight qualified by NASA to this day, and modern interpretations of this watch are still in production.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, chronograph functions and resets properly, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, hardly any oxide to steelwork; excellent-plus dial however most of the tritium luminous paint has been lost; hands have been repaired and touched up as well as still missing some white paint; polished case shows light wear, excellent DON bezel with numerous small paint flecks, several light dings on lugs and sides of case; Omega signed crown shows hardly any wear; good plastic crystal.
